With over a decade of choreographic experience Yvette Lee has become one of the country’s most versatile creatives. Recognised for her work across multiple platforms as choreographer, creative director and creative producer her contribution to television, theatre and live touring events has led to a large body of work.

Notable TV credits include: Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, Dance Boss, The Big Music Quiz, X Factor, China’s Next Top Model, Chris Lilly's J'amie Private School Girl & Jonah from Tonga, Cosentino -the Master Illusionist, Dance Hero Japan, Australian Idol, The ARIA Awards, The Logie Awards, So You Think You Can Dance Greece, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, Comedy Inc, Neighbours, The Taiwanese Wiggles for the Disney Chanel, The Pacific’, produced by Stephen Spielberg and Asia’s Got Talent where she was assistant to the Squared Division.

We are so excited to announce that Tim Podesta is coming to VDF for the first time!

Tim Podesta graduated from The Australian Ballet School and danced internationally, performing roles by some of the leading choreographers of our time. It was working with such luminaries that inspired him to explore choreography and eventually start his own company, Projection Dance.

Projection Dance is the creative force from which Podesta articulates his style of physical vocabulary, frequently shifting from classical ballet to modern dance for large companies such as the Queensland Ballet to gala performances for international ballet stars from the Royal Ballet company and beyond.

Podesta’s acclaimed productions have been performed throughout the world with collaborations extending to film and visual arts prompting Paul Ransom of Dance Informa to observe, ‘Australian choreographer Tim Podesta is one of those rare people about whom you can say ‘they have the world at their feet’.

International outreach fuels Podesta and his company to explore the development of dance education through vocational training programs and community engagement with an eye on making dance as accessible as possible. This multi disciplinary focus places Podesta in regular demand as a jury member for international ballet competitions, guest teacher and advocate for a variety of private and government organisations nationally and internationally.

Gina Michaels Victorian Dance Festival.j

Gina Michael is an Egyptian-Australian choreographer from Melbourne. As an internationally renowned choreographer, she has travelled the world teaching her unique style in over 40 countries. Gina was a world judge at Hip Hop International 2018/2019 and technical director of Hip Hop International Australia (2018/2019).⁠

She was also a grand finalist on Australia’s Got Talent (2016). She has choreographed for the likes of Bliss n Esso and Fatai (The Voice). Her team credits include 2x champions of Dancers Paradise, Runner Up World of Dance (2015)/ Champions of WSB (2013).⁠

She is also the Founder and Director of Ascendant Dance Company. 

Cassie Bartho Victorian Dance Festival.j

Cassie Bartho is a dynamic dancer and choreographer from Newcastle. At 16 she moved to Sydney to complete her HSC and Fulltime training at leading performing arts school, Brent Street

Since graduating Cassie has jet-setted into the commercial dance world, performing for artists such as Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Ricky Martin, Jessie J, Kylie and Danni Minogue, PNAU, Client Liaison, Hailee Steinfeld, Kim Petras, and Havana Brown. Bartho has also been lucky enough to perform on shows such as X-Factor, The Voice and Australia’s Got Talent as well as many corporate events. ⁠

Cassie’s fresh and energetic choreography is making an impact within the industry. Her most recent accomplishment has seen her appointed resident choreographer of channel 10’s ‘The Masked Singer’ (Season 2) and was Assistant Choreographer to Stephen Tannos on ‘Found’, We Are Dance Project’s debut show. Bartho has also joined various creative teams, choreographing for companies, major brands and artists such as Optus, Mugler, Harvey Norman, The Star Casino, Luke Antony, NuSkin, Channel 7, Westpac and the ABC Network. Bartho has also assisted choreographers such as The Squared Divison, JTown, Matt Lee, Lucas Newland and Cat Santos on their various endeavours. ⁠

Cassie hopes to continue to grow and develop as a dancer and choreographer and wishes to continue sharing her knowledge as much as possible with the Australian dance community.⁠ 

Antony Hamilton Victorian Dance Festival


Antony Hamilton, Artistic Director of leading Melbourne contemporary company Chunky Move is coming to Energetiks VDF 2020!

Antony Hamilton was appointed Artistic Director and co-CEO of CHUNKY MOVE in early 2019, and his connection to the company goes back more than 17 years. His acclaimed works involve a sophisticated melding of movement, sound and visual design, and are contextually underpinned by an examination of a body that is at once primitive, contemporary and future bound.

Antony has been the recipient of prestigious fellowships from Bangarra Dance Theatre (the Russell Page Fellowship), the Tanja Liedtke Foundation, the Australia Council for the Arts and the Sidney Myer Foundation. In 2013, he was Resident Director of Lucy Guerin Inc and in 2014 was guest dance curator at The National Gallery of Victoria. He was also the inaugural International Resident Artist at Dancemakers Toronto from 2016 to 2018. Antony has received four Helpmann Award nominations, winning for Black Project 1 & 2 and Forever and Ever (Sydney Dance Co.). He has won numerous Green Room Awards and also received a New York Performing Arts Award ‘Bessie’ for Outstanding Production for MEETING. In 2019 he created Token Armies, his first major work for Chunky Move as Artistic Director.

Cameron Mitchell Victorian Dance Festiva


Cameron Mitchell has been working professionally for over 30yrs and has become one of Australia's most versatile and sought after choreographers.

He began with the National tour of girl group Bardot from TV series Popstars and went on to work closely with musical theatre star Caroline O’Connor for many years, where he created the critically acclaimed From Stage to Screen, which toured internationally and was televised on the ABC, and also The Showgirl Within.

Cameron choreographed for the Logie and Aria award winning group Hi-5 for many years, beginning with the original cast and returning in 2015. He helped create the internationally successful Boys In The Band with SMA Productions, and went on to work with them on The Diamonds, Swoon, String Divas and The Rat Pack.

TV and commercial work has included Tooheys New Street Party, KFC Fresh Taste Best and Nicorette’s “How Ya Feelin’ Phil” series, So You Think You Can Dance, Home and Away, Dossa & Joe for the BBC and Popstars series 3.

He has had a successful run of shows working with Internationally renowned cabaret and musical theatre artist Trevor Ashley including Pop Princess 2, Gentlemen Prefer Blokes (co-starring Courtney Act ) Diamonds Are For Trevor, Fat Swan, Little Orphan Trashley and Twins (both co starring Rhonda Burchmore) and The Bodybag.

As a performer Cameron appeared in the Australian productions of Chicago, Oliver!, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Zorba and Mack & Mabel in concert, and Monty Python's Spamalot. He was also a featured dancer in Baz Luhrmans Moulin Rouge.

Cameron has choreographed a number of productions including the national tour of Heathers the musical, High Society, The Fantasticks , Mack & Mabel (Sydney Theatre Award nomination) , Big Fish (Sydney Theatre Award nomination), Brigadoon for the Production Company, The Rover for Belvoir, The View Upstairs, the critically acclaimed Calamity Jane (Sydney Theatre Award nomination) starring Virginia Gay which is currently touring Australia, High Fidelity, Gypsy, Cry-Baby (Sydney Theatre Award nomination) and Spamalot.

In 2019 he made his directorial debut with the Australian premiere of the Broadway musical Catch Me If You Can.

Originally from Wagga Wagga, Jarryd has forged a successful career on both stage and screen. Specialising in Latin American and Ballroom, his most recent choreography credits include; Dancing With The Stars; MTC’s Heisenberg; Immersive Cinema’s Dirty Dancing; The Unbelievables and White Night Melbourne.⁠

Professional Credits include: “Nathan Starkey’ Baz Luhrmans Strictly Ballroom The Musical (understudy Ken Railings), Burn The Floor; The Unbelievables and Shake Rattle & Roll. ⁠

Jarryd is also a resident professional dancer on Dancing With The Stars and has been partnered with Olympia Vallance, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Jesinta Franklin and Ash Pollard.⁠

Luke Alleva began his musical theatre career in Man of La Mancha as Juan, Brains in Get Happy, and Cliff in the We Will Rock You Australian tour. Luke’s West End credits include We Will Rock You at The Dominion Theatre, Saturday Night Fever at Apollo Victoria and West End Rocks UK tour.⁠

On return to Australia Luke performed in The Rocky Horror Show, Guys and Dolls, Mamma Mia, Xanadu, Moonshadow the musical as Dance Captain, A Chorus Line, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Dusty, Funny Girl, Boy from Oz, 42nd Street, Little Me, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Boy Friend, and just recently Dirty Dancing Immersive Cinema in Melbourne and Sydney.⁠

Luke is the Creative Director and Founder Of Luca Entertainment Productions. He has also created many shows, including starring in One Man show The Dancin Man Sydney, Melbourne, Regional Victoria and various International Cruises lines and other productions.⁠

Luke is also a sought after Choreographer for Carols by Candle Light Channel 9 for Daryl Somers, Saturday Night Fever at chapel off chapel, Cabaret the musical Spiegel Tent, 50’s Shake, Music Videos, Ballarat Carols, Corporate Shows, Musical Theatre Workshops, and a renowned Adjudicator/Judge.⁠

Elysia Baker and Carlos Veron Victorian

Welcoming Salsa and Latin champions Elysia Baker and Carlos Veron to the lineup! These two are hot hot hot!

Elysia Baker is the current Australian Salsa & Latin Champion and ranked 2nd in the world in the professional Cha Cha at the World Salsa Summit, USA.

A former ballet dancer, Elysia transitioned into the Salsa industry over 10 years ago where she has worked her way up to be recognised as one of the industry’s most respected artists. She is the director of Melbourne dance school La Encantada Collective, home of all female Latin dance company La Encantada. She travels frequently to continue learning from some of the industry’s icons, along with competing, performing and teaching at events both nationally and around the world.

Elysia’s wealth of dance knowledge and training in a variety of dance styles (including Mambo, Cha Cha, Ballet, Contemporary and more) lends itself to well-rounded training techniques. Her dance travel lifestyle gives her fresh insight into the ever-evolving world of dance, which she brings back to infuse into her own teaching and training techniques. Elysia's beautiful personality combined with her dynamic choreography, power, body movement and flexibility, forges together to create exciting shows and insightful and fun dance classes.

Carlos Veron is the currently ranked 2nd in the World in Salsa at World Salsa Summit USA. He is also the current Argentina National Champion.

Carlos is one of Argentina’s most sought-after dance coaches and choreographer’s, specialising in Salsa, Bachata and Dance Fitness Conditioning. Best known for his powerful and dynamic choreography, intricate footwork, body movement and flexibility.

Carlos’ wealth of dance knowledge extends beyond Salsa and Bachata, into Jazz, Tango, Ballet and Argentine Folklore, which lends itself to well-rounded training techniques and beautiful choreographies.

Trevor Santos Victorian Dance Festival.j

Trevor Santos is a Melbourne born and raised dance artist (performer & choreographer). From humble beginnings as a self-taught dancer, Trevor has performed in live stadiums, theatres, music videos and TV. In the first 4 months of 2021, Trevor has experienced much success recently coming off a 6-week interstate tour and a season at Her Majesty’s Theatre with ‘Matador The Show’, shooting for Lee Jeans Australia’s and receiving 4-star review in the Age for his first solo work ‘100 Haikus’.


Trevor has worked alongside artists Guy Sebastian, Missy Higgins, Hayden Calnin, Sheppard, Kira Piru, Dual Manner and Hangeng (2012 MTV world artist). With over a decade of experience as an instructor and choreographer, Trevor has been able to teach in cities like Sydney, Gold Coast, Perth, Hobart and even Beijing, China. More recently, he has been seen teaching classes in New York (HNH experience, Ripley Grier Studios), Malaysia (The Experience Dance Workshop, Freedom Dance studio), and in his hometown instructing at VDF (Victorian Dance Festival 2019).

A highly sought after artist, both locally and internationally, he is a significant figure in the Melbourne dance scene. Passionate in his craft, Trevor continues to push his limits as an artist, finding time to train in other movement styles or interests.

Todd patrick is a renowned choreographer and artistic director based in Melbourne. Todd’s long spanned career has seen him travel all over the world working for some of the most industry respected companies as both a dancer, choreographer and creative director. He began his career with the internationally acclaimed Walt Disney Studios before beginning an impressive stint across Europe and Asia with the prestigious Lido in Paris, France, Royal Palace Strasbourg, W hotel South Korea and Jupiter's Casino in the Gold Coast, Australia. Todd has worked with the likes of Crown Melbourne and Star City, Vanessa Amorosi, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Zoe Badwi, Kate Cebreano and Dannii Minogue not to mention MAC Cosmetics, Christian Dior, Versace, Issey Miyake, Chanel and Gucci alongside Giselle Bundchen, John Galliano and Karl Lagerfeld. Todd has choreographed for KPMG, Chadstone the Fashion Capital, NAB, Victoria Racing, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Ten’s Offspring TV show.

Todd has several cabaret shows constantly touring Australia in the form of Cabaret de Paris currently touring New Zealand and Viva las Vegas. Todd founded Patrick Studios Australia, now Patrick School of the Arts, which altogether encompasses a Full-time Performing Arts, Musical Theatre and Elite Course as well as Patrick Academy - High School for the Performing Arts to specifically train dancers for a professional career in the arts. In addition, he started Patrick Management to help students and professional performers break into the industry and foster their career. His students and talent are now following in his footsteps and can be seen around the world in shows like Wicked, Shout, Chicago, 42nd Street and Hamilton and in venues across Europe including The Lido, Moulin Rouge and La Nouvelle Eve. His students frequent in music videos, TV programs, cruise ships, commercial functions and fashion parades with highly acclaimed directors and choreographers. 

AMANDA STONE is the Academy Awards of Childrenʼs entertainment: Choreographer, Director, Producer, Dancer and Teacher; she does it all with precision and an unrivalled professionalism. Amanda trained in all styles of dance. She completed Certificate III in Musical Theatre and Commercial Dance at Bartuccio's, and extended her education by getting her Associate Diploma of Arts in Dance Instruction and Management at the Box Hill Institute of TAFE.

She has choreographed for Walt Disney Studios, Gary Ginivin Attractions (Lazy town Live , Pinocchio and Possum Magic) , Andrew K and Associates (Hairy Maclairy & Friends and Bananas in Pyjamas ), Shine Entertainment (Thomas and the Hidden Treasure), X system Entertainment (Barbie -Mattel, Nickelodeon, Hit Entertainment, Sesame Street Workshop, Astro Boy, Garfield, Care Bears), and Marilla productions (Looney Tunes, Winx Club, Totally Spies and Strawberry Short Cake). These shows have been performed all over Australia and Asia to huge success with Australia’s biggest and best musical theatre talent.

As a dancer she has worked right across the globe from commercial events to blockbuster ET News, as Kylie Minogue’s body double, TV shows, film clips, cheerleading for Melbourne Storm and huge corporate events. On top of it all, Amanda danced in every Disney production in Australia and Asia for several years until her talent for choreography was noticed and she became one of their highly respected Choreographers.

Amanda was also Creative Director for the event “Vic Moves ”a dance based competition for Victorian Secondary schools in 2010 at the Melbourne Comedy Theatre. She also Co- Choreographed “Peter and the Wolf”;an educational contemporary dance piece, performed with a live orchestra at the Melbourne Recital Center in 2011. Due to popular demand it returned for a second season in 2012. In 2013 Amanda joined forces with X System Entertainment and Kissing Bee Productions to produce live shows of Sesame Street and Pororo in Singapore. Amandaʼs next step was in the formation of her own company Stone Productions Australia, a children’s entertainment company creating stage shows to tour throughout Asia and Australia including Paroro Live, Sesame Street Live, Chuggington Live, Warner Bros. and Dinosaur Train to name a few.

Amanda is Director of Patrick School of the Art’s Academy - High School for the Performing Arts, Elite Squad and Junior School.

nathan pinnell is an award-winning performer with a career spanning over two decades. His professional career began at the age of 9 in two Opera Australia productions, Falstaff and Manon Lescaut. As a young boy he also appeared in numerous television commercials such as Sea Monkey’s, Australia Post and Meadow Lea. Nathan has been involved in Melbourne Fashion Week, re- opened Hamer Hall Arts Centre, performed for the Prime Minister at Australia House in London and took part in launching for Mercedes Benz. His theatre credits include Singin’ In The Rain (Dance Captain/Swing/Cover: Production Tenor and Dialect Coach), Hugh Jackman: Broadway To Oz (Dance Captain/Featured Ensemble), Anything Goes (Dance Captain/Swing/Cover: Billy Crocker), Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom: The Musical as Liam Lamb (Understudied and performed Ken Railings, Nathan Starkey and Clarry Welch), Legally Blonde as Carlos (Savoy, West End), West Side Story as Baby John, Chicago: The Musical for which he received a Green Room Award (Cover: Mary Sunshine), Dusty:The Original Pop Diva as Young Tom, We Will Rock You (Ensemble and Swing), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, High School Musical (Cover: Jack Scott/Ryan Evans), Eurobeat: Almost Eurovision and Rhythm and Runners (Melbourne Fringe Festival). steven grace is an award-winning performer. His professional career has spanned over 25 years internationally. Steven’s recent work includes Dance Captain for The Sound of Music for the 2009/2010 Australian tour. Steven’s previous projects include working on the creative team as assistant to the choreographer and Dance Captain on Strictly Ballroom the musical. He has also choreographed and co-directed an exclusive shoot for Vogue Australia with multiple Oscar winner Catherine Martin & Baz Luhrmann for Vogue Australia.

At age 10 he won the role of Luke in Strictly Ballroom. The film was a success and won 17 awards and 11 nominations worldwide including a Golden Globe® nomination for Best Picture. This began his long association with Baz Luhrmann and Oscar® winner Catherine Martin, with them he has been involved in many projects including the Opening Extravaganza of Fox Studios Australia, their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and he played the role of lead tango dancer in the Moulin Rouge film.

Theatre includes Chicago on the West End, London, performing alongside Brooke Shields, Ashlee Simpson and original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter. He has also performed Chicago in Cyprus and in Australasia playing Fred Casely. Steven to date has played every male character in the show and has understudied and played the roles of Billy Flynn and Amos Hart as well as Dance Captain. Steven won a Green Room Award for Chicago in Australia. Other shows include Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, West End as Assistant Dance Captain. Australian Theatre includes Promises, Promises (The Production Company), The Boy From Oz- Role- Trick (TPC), Dein Perry’s Steel City Australian and U.S Tour including Radio City Music Hall in New York, which made a history making season as the first Australian tap group ever to perform there. Fame and We Will Rock You as one of the Original Australian Cast hand picked by Queen themselves. He also was involved in the original workshops for the musical King Kong.

Paul Malek
Paul Malek is the Artistic Director of Australian arts organisation, Transit Dance, which harbours a plethora of platforms such as Transit Dance Company, youth component Origins Dance Company, post-graduate and vocational level courses in Contemporary Dance and the Performing Arts, youth training pathways as well as producing a multitude of events and production seasons throughout a calendar year.⁠

After an extensive performing career seeing him perform across 5 continents; Paul became an award-winning choreographer for his contemporary dance work. His choreography has featured across theatre, film and television with regular appearances on such television shows as SYTYCD Australia and DWTS Australia as a contemporary dance choreographer.⁠

Actively engaged in the Australian dance community, Malek is the current President of the board of Directors for the Transit Dance Initiative. Former President of the Board of Directors for the Australian Teachers of Dancing International and the former Artistic Director of Victorian Dance Festival.⁠

He is also a much loved MC, hosting a plethora of events such as but not limited to, The Victorian Dance Festival, Come Together Dance Convention, Underground, Dance Chat Live, and Immersed Dance Industry Night.⁠

An inspirational speaker and motivator, Paul has spoken at many dance festivals and conventions across the globe, and also hosts empowering workshops at various companies, dance schools, high schools and primary schools across Australia.⁠

A strong passion for education and sustainability in the arts, Paul Malek is dedicated to providing the necessary groundwork for a sustainable and prosperous future for the arts landscape of Australia. ⁠

Arna Singleton aka Robotgirl (RBTGRL), is a respected and highly sought after professional Hip Hop/Urban choreographer and dance event producer. She has taught hundreds of workshops, choreographed for various events, performed on TV multiple times (SYTYCD, Australia's Got Talent, AFL Footy show Player Revue, Everybody Dance Now, to name a few) and was chosen via a dance audition process to dance with Madonna in Canada.⁠

Over the years she has skill developed thousands of dancers and has contributed to the professional development of so many interested in the urban dance world. Arna is known for the running and creation of dance crew competitions, Step Off and Heavyweight Urban Dance Comp, as well as bringing the elements of Hip Hop together at Our Backyard at the Arts Centre. She is highly recognised in her field and considered one of the community leaders for the urban dance industry.⁠

Trish Squire is one of Australia’s most in-demand choreographers and directors with a remarkable career in the performing arts industry spanning over 20 years. ⁠With a long list of live performance credits to her name, Trish has also achieved a Diploma of Musical Theatre as well as Dance Teaching and Management and is the founder and director of Spectrum Dance Studios and Spectrum Talent Agency. Launching the agency in⁠ 2008, Trish has secured contracts for Royal Caribbean Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruises, Holland America Cruises, Royal Palace Germany, Princess Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Disneyland Tokyo, Disney Sea Tokyo, Disneyland Paris, Moulin Rouge Paris, West Side Story,⁠ Universal Studios Japan, Disney Live Asia Australia Tour, Resorts World Genting, The Footy Show, Target, Kmart and Coles.⁠ ⁠


Trish has established herself as Choreographer, Artistic Director and Manager of the Melbourne Storm NRL Street Crew and previously with the Melbourne Storm NRL⁠ Cheerleaders, Collingwood Dance Crew, whilst also securing contracts with Melbourne Star Cheerleaders and Showtime Attractions.⁠

Blake John Wood is fast becoming one of Australia’s most exciting creative visionaries. Widely recognised for his reputable work ethic and attention to detail, Blake fuses striking choreography with slick movement and a cutting-edge aesthetic to deliver a first-class result every time.⁠

Blake has worked with many incredible clients including Universal Music, MTV Australia & NZ, Island Records, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Mecca Cosmetica, Bonds, Disney Channel, Kesha, Havana Brown, Fitness First, Sunrise, Hyundai, The Morning Show, The Dream Dance Company, Runaway The Label, Premonition Designs, Mardi Gras & Girlfriend Magazine.⁠

In 2018, Blake was appointed Choreographer and Dance Coordinator for the internationally renowned Marquee Nightclub which has seen him provide dancers for global artists such as Usher, The Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, ASAP Rocky, French Montana, Sean Kingston and the official after party for Drake’s “The Boy Meets World” Tour.⁠

Most recently, Blake has had the privilege of working with Universal Music and Island Records in the role of choreographer and movement coach on music video clips for hit singles “Glimpse” & “All Day” by Havana Brown. Furthermore, he was recruited as Creative Director on activation campaigns for Belvedere and Grey Goose Vodka, where he directed sophisticated installations and constructed memorable dance production exhibits.⁠

As a performer, Blake was recently featured in The Dream Dance Company’s live production of “DÉJÀ VU” as one of the All-Star Professionals, directed by Marko Panzic. He was also fortunate enough to dance for global pop sensation Kesha. ⁠

Nadia Tornese is an Australian Choreographer, instructor and creative who has become highly sort after in the Entertainment industry. Nadia's choreographic career has led her to work across all area's of the entertainment industry from Television to Stage, Music Videos and Live Events.⁠

Nadia's Television credits include The Wrong Girl (Network 10), Neighbours (Network 10) and TV Week Logie Awards - Meghan Trainor (Assistant Choreographer)⁠

Nadia's live Events, Stage and online credits include Justice Crew, Carrie Bickmore's Brain Beats concert (Choreographer), Nickelodeon Kids Tennis Day for the Australian open, Diamonds at the Spiegeltent (Co- Choreographer) Le Femme and the Male Minority (Co - Choreographer), Short and Sweet Dance Festival Melbourne and events for NOVA FM, Vega/Smooth Fm Suburban Supastar, Mercedes and Mazda to name a few.⁠

She has also choreographed for events, festivals and brands such as Listen Out Music festival with Champion & Homie and worked alongside music artist KLP to facilitate a dance and music program for NIKE Australia. In addition, she has also choreographed online campaigns for brands such as Supre' and music videos for The Saga, Thomas Byrne and most recently Mia Wray for her debut single "work for me" and follow up single “never gonna be the same.”⁠



Nadia NfuZion is Australia’s first and only internationally recognised freelance dancer, educator and choreographer who specialises in Dancehall, various other styles from the African diaspora and street styles.⁠ She is a member of the global Dancehall collective, DANCA FAMILY; Paris based house and all styles dance crew,

Paradox-sal; and Via Vyndal Pantsulas from Johannesburg. ⁠

Nadiah full time career began in Australia in 2010. Since 2015 she has taken her dance beyond its boarders to acquire, share and exchange knowledge globally. To date, Nadiah has shared her electrifying energy and enlightening vision of movement (and life) in over 30 countries across 5 continents (Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and North America). Constantly striving to broaden her knowledge in movement and culture,⁠ and acquire new skills to refine her craft, Nadiah is extremely passionate, generous and authentic in what she delivers in all aspects of her profession.⁠

Australia Ballet Principal Artist Adam Bull is joining us for Energetiks VDF for the first time! ⁠ ⁠ Starring as a Principal Artist since 2008, Adam is one of Australia's finest male dancers, and we are so honoured to have him teach 3 classes at VDF 2021!⁠ ⁠

Adam Bull began his training at Dance World 301 with Brian Nolan before joining The Australian Ballet School; in 2000, he represented Australia in the Paris International Ballet Competition. He graduated from The Australian Ballet School with honours in 2001 and joined The Australian Ballet in 2002.⁠ ⁠ In 2008, after just six months as a senior artist, he was promoted to Principal Artist. Adam has danced all the major lead roles of the classical canon, and also relishes contemporary works, particularly those by George Balanchine, Graeme Murphy, Christopher Wheeldon, Wayne McGregor, Jiří Kylián and Alice Topp. He also enjoys darker dramatic roles such as Diaghilev in John Neumeier’s Nijinsky and Crassus in Lucas Jervies’ Spartacus.⁠ ⁠

Adrian Ricks1 was born in Melbourne and began dancing at the age of four under the tuition of Tania Attard and later at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.⁠ ⁠ His professional stage debut was at the age of 8, in the play `An Inspector Calls' at the Comedy Theatre Melbourne with the Royal Theatre of Great Britain. After graduating he was offered a contract in CATS South Korea Tent Top Tour in 2003. He then took on the role of Mr. Mistoffelees for the World Tour, Asian Tour and Australian Tour for seven years. In his eighth year Adrian also took on the additional role of Dance Captain. Adrian has also worked at Tokyo Disney Sea (Encore!) and for Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas.

Following his dream of creating his own work and moving into choreography, he conceptualised, directed, choreographed and performed his first full-length dance work, ‘Release’ at Gasworks Theatre 2011. His second work ‘SINS’ premiered at Theatre Works in St Kilda, 2013. In 2014 Adrian was nominated and won the category for Victoria’s Favourite Male Dancer in the Victorian Dance Awards.⁠ ⁠

Adrian has completed his Cert IV TAE and is currently working exclusively as Director of Dance at JC Ministry of Dance Full Time Course. With his vast experience, Adrian has become one of⁠ Melbourne’s leading dance tutors and loves helping aspiring performers and dancers master their craft.⁠



Lucy Doherty is a beloved Australian dance artist who is passionate about sharing her love for the art of dance through performance, choreography and teaching. She is also the director and founder of One Dance Collective, an organisation that empowers emerging dance artists by cultivating community and providing opportunities for ongoing personal, professional and creative development. ⁠ ⁠


Recognised for her authentic and expressive movement style, Lucy Doherty is deeply interested in exploring how dance can be utilised as a tool for self expression, connection and healing. Her professional practice has spanned over the past ten years with a string of projects that have allowed Lucy to develop immense versatility as a performer and showcased her as a creative talent to take note of. ⁠ ⁠


As a dancer and choreographer she’s worked in television, film and performed on stages around the world, from working with iconic Australian dance companies (including The Dream Dance Company & Stephanie Lake Company) to chart-topping Australian pop stars (including Ruel, Courtney Act & George Maple). Her independently produced dance films have been screened and celebrated internationally, including at the world renowned Lincoln Centre in New York City. ⁠ ⁠

Tim and Scott are fast becoming leaders in the Melbourne dance scene, and we are so honoured to include them in our stellar instructor line-up for the first time!⁠ ⁠ Scimm. Dance Company is an independent Melbourne-based contemporary dance company founded in 2013 by joint Creative Directors, Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes ⁠ ⁠


Scimm. Dance Company has been a staple in the Melbourne dance scene for the past eight years, producing high quality contemporary dance works with their unique style of fusing classical-based contemporary with modern themes and a commercial edge. ⁠ Scimm. Dance Company has created and produced eight full-length productions across their two companies to sell-out audiences with their ninth and tenth shows debuting later this year.


Both Scott and Tim have worked extensively as dancers, choreographers and teachers both in Australia and internationally and are very excited to teach at VDF 2021!⁠
