VDF is committed to child safety, and as a leading Australian dance festival, we want to ensure we are playing our part in keeping the dance community happy, healthy and thriving! In 2025 we are delighted to partner with Keep Kids Safe in Dance to offer dance specific Child Safe Training for Dance Educators and Studio Owners at VDF 2025.
ABOUT KEEP KIDS SAFE IN DANCE
KKSID raise awareness on the current issues surrounding dance whilst educating and mentoring studio owners, teachers, parents, students, workshop facilitators, competition judges and event planners on all areas of child safety. We help dance studios become child safe organisations in line with Government policies.

Understanding Your Responsibilities in the Dance Industry
If you teach in a dance studio, you have a legal and ethical responsibility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your students. State-wide Child Safe Standards and National Principles for Child Safety apply to every teacher, assistant, and educator working with children—but do you truly understand what this means in your role and is your training up to date?

Jackie Scott is a visionary leader, director, presenter, educator, choreographer, and producer with over 30 years of experience in the performing arts across Australia, USA and the UK.
As the Founder and Creative Director of RISE and Keep Kids Safe in Dance (KKSID), she is dedicated to empowering young performers through high-level training, mental health advocacy, and industry reform.
Jackie has directed and produced professional productions at world-class venues, including The Palais Theatre, Sadler’s Wells London, Melbourne Town Hall, The Peacock Theatre West End, London and Crown Casino, and has choreographed for major television and corporate events.
She has worked with leading industry professionals and developed key partnerships, including Studio 7 Dancewear and Sadler’s Wells Theatre. She was awarded the Vice Chancellors Award at Deakin University for creative product. Her commitment to arts education and dancer safety has earned her widespread recognition, including a nomination for Australian of the Year. Above all, Jackie is passionate about fostering resilience, confidence, and wellbeing in young artists, ensuring they are supported in both their professional and personal journeys.
