CHOREOGRAPHER TIM PODESTA
IS COMING TO VDF2024 TO AUDITION FOR HIS LATEST WORK APPEARING IN MELBOURNE in JULY 2024!

Tim Podesta- Creative is seeking two versatile dancers, aged 18 and above, to join an exciting contemporary dance creation. The selected dancers will have the unique opportunity to perform alongside international guest artists in a new production by internationally acclaimed choreographer Tim Podesta.

About the work:

Tim Podesta Creative is proud to announce a captivating new choreographic triptych premiering at the Edge Theatre, Federation Square in July 2024. Podesta, returning to the Edge following his sold-out season of FORTE, which was described as 'a classy program blending exceptional dancers with sophisticated contemporary and classical choreography, set to mesmerizing compositions.' Podesta's productions consistently showcase an ensemble of international and Australian dance luminaries, promising an extraordinary experience unlike any other.

Dancer Requirements:

Gender: Not specific – open to all genders

Age: 18 and over

Technique: Must possess exceptional proficiency in both contemporary and classical dance forms.

 

Performance Details:

The selected dancers will participate in rehearsals throughout June and July, leading to a performance scheduled for July 20th at the spectacular Edge Theatre, Federation Square, Melbourne.

Audition Information: Sunday 14 April 2pm Studio 6

The audition will consist of an hour and a half session to learn existing repertoire, which will be taught by one of our esteemed company dancers, Zoe Cavedon, alongside Tim Podesta.

Registration and Selection Process:

No registration process is necessary for the audition. At the conclusion of the session, we'll engage in a discussion with selected participants requesting C.V. and photos

Ahead of the audition, Tim Podesta will also be teaching a ballet masterclass at VDF24. Join Tim at 11am on Saturday 13 April in Studio 1. 

Tim Podesta is an internationally renowned choreographer and director whose artistic journey began at the Australian Ballet School. As a performer, he showcased his talent on global stages, serving as a soloist and interpreting the works of eminent choreographers such as Balanchine, Taylor, Cranko, Ashton, and Bournonville. Inspired by these luminaries, Podesta embarked on his own choreographic path.

 

His choreographic oeuvre spans classical and contemporary genres, earning widespread acclaim across continents. Podesta's works have graced esteemed stages in the USA, UK, Australasia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. His remarkable ability to seamlessly transition between classical and contemporary creations has garnered notable acclaim.

 

Beyond the confines of the stage, Podesta ventured into the realm of film, notably with his production "ADOR." This film featured dancers from esteemed companies such as The Hong Kong Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre, The English National Ballet, The Queensland Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Australian Dance Theatre and Royal Ballet Principal Artist, Mara Galeazzi. Premiering on the jumbo screen at Federation Square, the film attracted global attention, leading to a commission by renowned cosmetic brand Davine. This collaboration resulted in the creation of "Architecture of Loss," part of the Sustain Beauty campaign, filmed in New York City.

 

Podesta's artistry extends beyond dance, inspiring collaborations and multimedia projects. His award-winning work "Shadow Aspect" served as the inspiration for a book by acclaimed London photographer Jason Ashwood. Podesta's contribution to the Dis/Assemble Project also features prominently in the book "Seeded" by Moya Sayer-Jones, highlighting his work with adaptive dancers.

 

As an educator, Podesta has shared his expertise worldwide, teaching classical ballet and contemporary dance. His contributions have significantly influenced training methodologies in arts and dance curriculums globally. Podesta's expertise extends to judging international ballet competitions and serving as a motivational speaker at community and corporate events.

 

In the upcoming year, Podesta is set to unveil new creations in Australia, London, Hong Kong, and Italy. Apart from his illustrious career in the arts, Podesta is also a clinical myotherapist and exercise scientist, reflecting his multifaceted expertise and dedication to both artistic expression and physical wellness.
