Spotlight on Examinations Panel

Bio

Diane grew up in a dance studio.  Her mother was both a teacher and an examiner for CSTD and BBO. Having completed all her exams in a range of genres she also completed Teaching Diplomas in Theatrical, Classical, Tap and Highland with CSTD and a Classical and Highland  certificate with BBO.

Deciding on a career in education Diane took her love of dance into the educational sector. After teaching career spanning 27 years in a variety of large private girls’ schools she moved into lecturing at Edith Cowan University in 2008, where she continues to lecture. Teaching is her passion. Particular areas of interest are in growth and development, skill acquisition and teaching  teachers to teach.

This transferred into teaching dance and creating relevant dance syllabi. After the resignation of the CSTD president in 2010 Diane was elected to the role of President. Since then the Society has undergone a massive transformation in branding to be known today as Comdance. In the past 14 years Diane has been a driving force in the creation of a Contemporary syllabus created by Jason Winters, a new Theatrical and Performing Arts syllabus and the introduction of the Hip Hop syllabi. Staying relevant in a world that is constantly changing has seen Comdance also review their Jazz syllabus and introduce a completely new tap syllabus. Diane feels very strongly that as dance is a reflection of society's feelings and mood it is important that Comdance maintains its relevancy by updating and creating meaningful syllabi.

Diane loves engaging with people and as Comdance prides itself on being a people based organisation, it seems a perfect fit.
